Duties: Performs a variety of routine duties related to the operation of the gift shop. Duties includes, but are not limited to: Perform opening/closing duties. Handle cash/credit transactions. Assist customers. Sweep and mop as needed. Dust the shelves and Sanitize counters. Rotate stock pulling items forward and labels facing out using the FIFO technique. Price merchandise, stock and arrange displays. Complete a requisition form for food items. Clean the glass windows & doors. Trash disposal. Flowers Orders & Delivery upon request. Cleans assigned areas following established practices and procedures for quality, safety, and infection control. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:

  • Strong customer service experience.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively.
  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend the English language.
  • Must be open to feedback, differing opinions and other points of view.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and timeliness.
  • Demonstrates the ability to seek improvement
  • Excellent team-building and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Willingness to work in the elements - heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time.
  • Ability bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
  • Ability to utilize two hands to hold flag and sign while directing traffic.
